Parabola Explorer 1.9.1

Today we are very pleased to release Parabola Explorer 1.9.1. This version adds the following new features:

Coefficient Display

Coefficient Display

From 1.9.1, when you select a residual_coding element a graphical representation of the coefficient array is shown. This allows the user to understand block and coefficient scan patterns and trace the bistream-order, as-the-crow-flies path from “last” to “first” coefficient. We have various ideas to augment this visualisation but are very keen to hear user feedback.

SAO Overlay

SAO Overlay

New in this release is an additional overlay that shows SAO modes. The absence of borders on the top or left edge of a CTB indicates that it was “merged” from that direction. Hovering the mouse pointer in this view shows the applicable values of SaoTypeIdx[][][]. The lines crossing the SAO block are perpendicular to the filter direction. Band modes are shown textually and empty blocks denote CTBs that are unprocessed by SAO.
